Festyland Park is a small amusement theme park located on the south side in Caen, Normandy in France. It has over 30 attractions such as a mediaeval castle and two cinemas. The ride Erétic is a major attraction where visitors are spun round on a circular platform which swings up to 25 meters into the air. The Drakkar Express is an exciting rollercoaster where visitors sit in cars that are designed as Viking ships. The bumper boats are extremely fun and just like dodgem cars but only on a lake where you are allowed complete freedom to sail.
Festyland is a theme park for the younger children. The themes are taken from the varied history of Normandy with such harmless pleasures as a rocking Viking longboat to Carousels and a Helter Skelter. They also have a 3D cinema and regular shows with shows aimed at providing youngsters with some history lessons. Efteling is the largest theme park in the Netherlands, and as it opened in 1952, it is one of the oldest theme parks in the world. Efteling is located in the town of Kaatsheuvel, in the municipality of Loon op Zand, and has received over 100 million visitors.
Originally the park catered towards children with a fairy tale theme. In over fifty years the park has evolved from a nature park with playground and a Fairy Tale Forest, into a full-sized theme park. It is twice as large as the original Disneyland park in California and predates it by three years. Nowadays, Efteling caters to both children and adults with its cultural, romantic and nostalgic themes and its variety of amusement rides. Efteling currently covers approximately 160 acres (650,000 m²). This area has changed only marginally over the course of its history. However, the park's foundation owns a much larger area of land, covered mostly with young forest, some grassland, roads, and an 18-hole golf course.
The park is divided into four themed areas or 'realms,' though these are not entirely comparable to Disney's 'lands.' Originally, the park was divided into four areas called North, West, East, and South, with most of the park's historical rides and attractions, like the Fairy Tale Forest, located in West. When the park reorganized its infrastructure in the late 1990s (adding the Pardoes Promenade and a central hub called Efteling Brink), it also changed its area names. North was changed to Reizenrijk (Travel Realm), West became Marerijk (Fairy Realm), East became Ruigrijk (Rough Realm), and South became Anderrijk (Differ Realm).
Although the park was not built with these divisions in mind and the names may seem cryptic, they do make a certain sense. Perhaps the area most suited to its name is Ruigrijk, where most fast rides like the double-loop roller coaster Python (constructed in 1981) are located. Marerijk is the home to the Fairy Tale Forest and the Fairies of the Droomvlucht, Anderrijk has some rides that are inspired by non-Western cultures (e.g. Fata Morgana and Piraña), while Reizenrijk har the Carnaval Festival ride, which travels through several different 'countries.'
Not only the Fairy Tale Forest, but almost the entire Efteling park was built in a rather rural area, with lots of pine trees, giving it a 'nature park' feeling. Together with the large ponds and gardens (with thousands of flowers, and maintained by an army of gardeners), the park's abundant green space is rather unusual among the world's leading theme parks. Unfortunately, Dutch climate and the reliance on greenery and trees for a huge part of the park's looks (and theming) prevent year-round opening in full. Efteling used to be closed all winter (only being open from April through October), but the park's management, struggling to make the park more profitable and creating a better return-on-investment, has been experimenting with a so-called "Winter Efteling" since 1999. Thanks to great efforts to decorate the park using loads of pine trees and thousands of Christmas lights in winter, "Winter Efteling" is growing more popular every year, reaching a climax during the holidays when thousands of people visit the park.
Chessington World of Adventures Resort is a theme park, zoo and hotel in South West London, England. It lies 12 miles (19 km) south of Central London. Historically opened as Chessington Zoo in 1931, a theme park was developed alongside it, opening in 1987. Land of the Dragons
This mystical world full of adventures is bursting with great attractions ideal for children 2 to 8 years old. There's the spinning roller coaster Dragon's Fury, a spining boat ride called Sea Dragons, and a swinging and rocking ship named Griffins Galleon. Take your seat in one of the flame ball carriages thrilling journey of twists and turns, dips and dives all whilst spinning around and around! The 540 metres of track wind through Land of the Dragons rocketing up into the sky and plunging to the ground. Little adventures can feel the force of the mighty dragon in this thrilling battle.
Market Square
A shop and cafe area in the centre of the park, but just around the corner you can find Hocus Pocus hall, a magical 4-D attraction to explore. Created especially for little ones eager to explore the realm of magic and spells with no minimum height restriction. You can also board the Safari Skyway for an overhead view of Animal Land.
Mexicana
Over at this mexican themed village jump on the Rattlesnake ride, where its wild carts wind around sharp corners and steep drops. Take a spin in a wild wagon that will throw you around tight hairpin turns at high speed, you'll feel like you're going to fall off the end of the track! A very exciting roller coaster in Mexicana especially for older adventurers.The other coaster here is the Runaway Train (A family friendly rollercoaster that weaves in and out of rocky scenery taking you through many tunnels. Adventurers are usually treated to several laps of the winding track before coming to a halt at the station.) which is great fun for all the family and ideal for first time roller coaster riders.
Mystic East
Step into an eastern land where you can sample delicious oriental food or take a trip down the river on Dragon Falls. What starts off as a peaceful ride through beautiful mystic surroundings changes into a wild water ride, sending you down multiple small drops before climing to the top of the temple and crashing down into the waters below. Beware as what begins as a gentle cruise through the lakes and valley leads to a exciting plunge. For a fantastic view of the whole park hop on board the observation wheel, Peeking Heights, which towers over the land.
Pirates Cove
How about a massive pirate ship called the Black Buccaneer to get you in the swing of things, or what about the little ones getting caught up in a Sea Storms, well if that sounds good head for this swash buckling cove!
Toytown
A kids dream, a wonderful selection of kiddies treats can be experienced in this playful area. For pink knuckle fun join the fun-loving berries on Berry Bouncers or if you fancy a drive in the country try Todies Crazy cars and the Toytown Truckers.
Transylvania
Themed on the spooky location of many stories and films, watch out for witches, ghosts and ghouls in this haunting land. The flying bats of the Vampire (Swoops riders through the skies, and takes you soaring across the tree tops, legs dangling 'screamingly' free in a bat-tastic journey with plenty of bite! Its one of the best family roller coasters in the UK giving kids their first experience of a big and exciting thrill ride. Before riding, visitors pass through a spooky graveyard and enter a creepy chamber!)suspended family roller coaster and the the legendary foam-fizzing Bubbleworks can both be found here.
Wild Asia
An ancient and mythical kingdom where Kobra, an awesome spinning Disk'O Coaster ride, lurks in the jungle next to family favourites including the Monkey Swinger and the Tuk Tuk Turmoil dodgems, with the Lorikeet Lagoon walkthrough aviary and Maharaja’s Market just begging to be explored. Thorpe Park is a theme park in Chertsey, Surrey, England. Thorpe Park has frequent buses from Staines. It was built in 1979 on the site of a gravel pit which was partially flooded, creating a water-based theme for the park. Thorpe Park is made up of seven main themed lands, here's an overview of each including all the attractions that you'll find in them.
Amity Cove
