Tivoli Gardens is a famous amusement park and pleasure garden in Copenhagen, Denmark. The park opened on 15 August 1843 and is the second oldest amusement park in the world. The park is best known for its wooden roller coaster, it calls Rutsjebanen or Bjergbanen. Beside that, the world's tallest carousel, Himmelskibet, opened in Tivoli in 2006. It offers panoramic views of the city. At Tivoli Gardens you can see various performing arts. There are Tivoli Concert Hall, The Pantomime Theatre, The Tivoli Boys Guard for arts show. During the warmer summer months, Tivoli also features a live music concert.
Tivoli is a place of lights and illumination, which makes Tivoli a very special place to visit once it gets dark. You have to go to Tivoli twice (or for a while) to experience both Tivoli atmospheres: In the daytime the abundance of flowers and the beautiful buildings, in the night time the many lights and an atmosphere that could be taken directly from a fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen.
